Amulets of Asterias
Created over thousands of years and spread throughout the world are powerful seven-point star amulets. These amulets connect to the wearer to Asterias. The wearer is gifted with improved health, reflexes and the ability to toil for days without tiring. The greatest gift is gives, though, is the capability to create homunculi called comets.
Multiplying of the Devoted
The wearer of an amulet can cut off any piece of themselves and submerge it in saltwater. Over the course of a few days the separated flesh will grow into a replica of the person from which it was taken complete with a perfect recollection of their memories.
All comets are in service to the wielder of the amulet, as long as those commands remain in line with the will of Asterias. If given the choice of who to follow, the comet will always choose Asterias. Comets, afterall, are the offspring of Asterias. If a comet is created from a human, it may hold some similarities to humanity, but is ultimately a creature of the Ravening Deep.
Mutated Generations
This is never more evident than when comets are created from a comet. With each iteration, the new being’s appearance and personalities edge further and further away from the original. These comets become ever stranger, inhuman, and deformed. It’s as if the mold they are proverbially cast from decays the more comets are made, and eventually a comet may be a horrifying creature with only a passing resemblance to its original form. Comets of this nature have been known to have crab claws instead of hands, fingers with too many joints or pupilless eyes. But there is really no telling what kind of monstrosity can come from creating too many comets.

Despite all of these downsides, comets are a fast way to build a legion of loyal followers. Comets of oneself provides (mostly) trustworthy partners for any type of plot. As with any dive into the eldritch world, there is immense power to wield, but it comes with a heavy price.
