Choose Your Investigator: Lola Hayes

The Kingsport Metamorphosis, the third book in the Investigators Gamebooks series, is out now, and today we’re taking a look at the third and final of the book’s investigators – the actress, Lola Hayes – as well as a brand-new, downloadable bonus investigator. Read on…

First up, Lola Hayes. On the face of it, Lola is an all-rounder, with 3 for all of Willpower, Intellect and Combat. However, Lola is in fact a chameleon – or, rather, a consummate actress. A master of passing herself off as whoever and whatever it is she needs to be in a given situation, Lola’s Calling Card allows her to adopt a skill of her choosing, while her Improvisation ability allows her to adjust her own Willpower, Intellect and Combat – multiple times per adventure, should she choose. The downside is that this comes at a Resource cost and – more pertinently for Lola – at the risk of her Sanity. All-in-all, Lola is one of the more flexible investigators in the game, but her ability to change herself to suit the situation needs to be used with great care.

Bonus Downloadable Investigator – Sister Mary, the Nun

One of the features of the Investigators Gamebooks series is that you can play any of the gamebooks in the series with any of the published investigators, whether they originally appeared in another volume in the series, or online. So, to mark the release of The Kingsport Metamorphosis, Aconyte Books have also published a bonus investigator – the nun, Sister Mary – exclusively available for download here on ArkhamHorror.com. Sister Mary is a resilient investigator, blessed with Willpower and the ability to evade both damage and doom at the most critical moment, but one for whom escalating Doom carries an additional risk – which makes her a particularly fitting choice for The Kingsport Metamorphosis, as we’re sure you’ll soon find out…
