Dreams of Kingsport: Entities and Their Domains

Dreams of Kingsport: Entities and Their Domains

A Great Web, a Weaver of Flesh, a Star in the Dark…

Salutations, investigators. Leah here with a little peek into the fourth chapter in Dreams of Kingsport, the setting guide for the Arkham Horror RPG. This one is called Entities and Their Domains, and includes three Ancient Ones—one we haven’t discussed before, Atlach-Nacha and two we introduced in the Core Rulebook, Tsocathra and Asterias.

Asterias in particular gets something a little special, here, which is the inclusion of a new Other World, Rima, that the Ancient One nearly consumed. In Latin, Rima can refer to a crack, fissure, or rift. What is left of this world is just that, a sliver of life in a sea of boiling, black refuse left behind by the gorging maw of the starfish-like god. Here, the Neph, a species of sapient lobster-like people, farm coral fields in the last living fragment of their home.

The remainder of the chapter is dedicated to a ton of non-player character profiles inspired by both Kingsport and the Dreamlands (as well as NPCs related to the Ancient Ones). Shout-out to Scott Zumwalt and Christopher Hunt who did a lot of the heavy-lifting in this chapter of the book!

I won’t tell you any more about this section, so if you want to see what cool profiles we’ve cooked up for you then you’ll have to pick up a copy of the book and discover the dangerous delights inside for yourself.

And, dear investigators, please remember that every curse of lycanthropy is completely unique! A silver bullet for one might not work so well on another…  –Leah Hawthorne

Dreams of Kingsport is a setting guide for the Arkham Horror RPG, scheduled for release in November 2025.
