The next in the series of Investigators Gamebooks from Aconyte Books is available to pre-order now. Prepare yourselves, Investigators, for the journey to Innsmouth…
From Aconyte:
Innsmouth is awash with sightings of a mysterious sunken pirate junk near the treacherous Devil Reef. Those rumors are an irresistible lure, drawing the Investigators of Arkham to the fog-laden Massachusetts town. But the thrill of discovery quickly wanes when you are faced with hostile locals, a missing marine archaeologist, and a family curse with tendrils that haunt your waking days. Solve the riddles, overcome tests, and wish for luck as you navigate the rotten streets of the decrepit town and beyond to save the world as you know it. However… choose wisely, Investigator, for betrayal lurks around every corner and the path you choose might awaken horrors from beneath the sea to sink us all.
The Tides of Innsmouth is the second in the series of Investigators Gamebooks, following The Darkness Over Arkham, published last year. Both titles are by renowned gamebook author Jonathan Green. If you haven’t played a gamebook before they are – as the name suggests – a book and a game in one, where you take on the role of one of Arkham’s many famed investigators, and the choices you make as you read – as well as your success in various tests of skills – determines the course of the story.
This time, you can take your pick of three Investigators appearing in gamebook form for the first time – the sailor Silas Marsh, the trawler Marion Tavares, the folklorist Kōhaku Narukami, or any other previously published Investigator. Each Investigators Gamebook in the series is fully compatible with those that come before and after it, so if you enjoyed playing The Darkness Over Arkham with Agnes Baker, Rex Murphy or Nathaniel Cho, or one of the three free DLC Investigators – Stella Clark, Amanda Sharpe or Skid’s O’Toole – you can continue to play as them in The Tides of Innsmouth.
Investigators Silas Marsh, Kohaku Narukami and Marion Tavares
And if you do choose to play with the same Investigator across multiple adventures, The Tides of Innsmouth introduces an experience system, offering a few little bonuses (and a few extra challenges) based on your experiences so far. We’ll be taking a closer look at how experience works in the Investigators Gamebooks series next week.
The Tides of Innsmouth releases worldwide on June 3, in both print and ebook editions, and is available for pre-order now. You can find a retailer near you here.
