What Was Lost…
The world of Rima exists in a universe untethered to our own. It’s land stretches nigh-infinitely in all directions. Its rich tapestry of diverse species once lived in harmony with each other under its gentle, steamy skies. Then, Asterias arrived.
Asterias did what it does and consumed much of Rima. Over ninety percent of all life was rendered extinct. The majority of Rima was transformed into the Boiling Black Sea. It is a dark abyss of pollution, carrion and parasites. Legend has it that a behemoth serpent patrols the sea, consuming anything it comes into contact with.
All seemed lost on Rima, until a Neph, a crustacean-like species of Rima, performed a desperate ritual and cast Asterias out into the space between universes.
…Is Found
Rima was saved, but the only habitable part of this once thriving world left is the homeland of the Neph, the Geysers. True to its name, the region is filled with towering, twisting geysers, steaming water pools filled with bizarre and colorful creatures, and massive ‘fields’ of coral that the Neph cultivate as their main food source. It’s from here that the Neph work to rebuild their broken world and guard against the return of Asterias
What the Neph guard most of all is the Bath of Light. Deep within the Geysers lies an underwater chamber known for its incredible healing properties. Neph who are injured ill, or near death, come to these warm, soothing thermal vents to heal so that they may continue their purpose of healing their broken home.
