Media Recommendations for Your Convention Travel

Whether you’re journeying by land, sea, air, or dimensional gate, there’s plenty of fiction, radio dramas, actual plays, novels, and more from the world of Arkham Horror to keep you entertained en route this convention season. What follows are our media recommendations depending on your favorite games and genres, or what you’re currently in the mood for.

If Eldritch Horror is one of your favorite Arkham Horror games, or you’re the kind of person whose passport is routinely fully stamped, may we interest you in the Arkham International series? The free, serialized pulp mystery story features Roland Banks and Trish Scarborough as they crisscross the globe in search of the truth behind Arkham’s inundation. The second season is now fully available to binge on ArkhamHorror.com or on the Aconyte Fiction podcast on YouTube, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. If you are a roleplaying gamer at heart, or if you enjoy watching colorful characters come up against the fickle hand of fate, then you’ll want to check out Étude in Aether on YouTube. This free actual play one-shot from Good Time Society features Game Master Ross Bryant and players Gina DeVivo, Ify Nwadiwe, Becca Scott, and Rekha Shankar as they play Arkham Horror: The Roleplaying Game from Edge Studio. Watching this AP will also allow you to see the Dynamic Pool System in action, which can be helpful if you’re planning to be a player or game master for the RPG soon. 

If you’re hyped about Chapter 2 of Arkham Horror: The Card Game, or if you love learning more about your favorite investigators, we have two offerings for you to choose from. First, if you have a lengthy journey or your hunger for knowledge is insatiable (but perhaps some things are better left in the dark…), you should check out Cath Lauria’s Chapter 2 prequel novel, Bullets in the Dark. The detective work of Isabelle Barnes and Tommy Muldoon reveals Arkham’s dark underbelly full of murder and eldritch mayhem in this thrilling noir adventure set after the partial destruction of the city. If you prefer to devour your stories in twenty-minute increments, check out the latest free Investigators of Arkham Horror short stories featuring some of the newest investigators to join the games’ rosters. Highlights include creepy tales of mystery and woe for André Patel, Miguel de la Cruz, Lucius Galloway, Marion Tavares, and Book of Living Myths author Kōhaku Narukami. Finally, if you’re already getting into the Summerween spirit (and around here it always feels like spooky season for some reason…), the audio drama “Cornered in a Cornfield” shows the flapper detective Betsy Baxter as she solves the mystery of a strange Hallowe’en horror with fellow star André Patel. Written by Rosemary Jones and performed by Todd Menesses and Daniela Aciteli, the charmingly campy radio play is available for your auditory delight on YouTube, Spotify, or wherever you subscribe to the Aconyte Fiction Podcast.
